This raft used by Cubans to reach US It will be exhibited in a museum

articulos_marianamariana_1This raft boat, named The Mariana, was the one who carried 24 Cubans from Matanzas to Key West, a journey of over 100 miles. This raft is the centerpiece of an exhibition at the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum, on the phenomenon of the Cuban exodus.
The exhibition, which will open in late August, specifically 19 and 20, will be entitled "Voyage to Freedom: Cuban Rafters" ( "Journey to freedom: Cuban boat people").
"Although much of our previous research has focused on the galleons and their crossings and connections with Cuba, we believe that the Cuban exodus current and their boats were equally worthy of being explored , " said Melissa Kendrick, who is director museum and was at the head of the acquisition of Mariana.
